Naturally academically smart so he doesn't need to study much, but he doesn't even attend (many) classes in the first place so he doesn't know anything on the tests.

Biography:
Takeshi is the eldest son of three of the mega Oomori Corporation, a mutli-billion dollar company that traditionally passes down the baton within the Oomari family. Since he always had high grades and excellent power in sports, as well as being the eldest, all of the expectations piled on him. Another problem in his house was his youngest brother, an surprisingly evil and calculating kid (even though he was only nine years old) who was after the position of the head of the family and kept seeing Takshi as his biggest rival. His youngest brother would also do various things to spite Takshi and drag him down, and in the end it worked. After hitting grade 8, he stopped taking it all and started talking back to his mother, who was always reminding him to be the best at everything for the sake of the Oomari name. As time went by talking back turned into shouting at his mother. One night during a shouting match, Takeshi snapped and threw an expensive china vase at his mother, missing her by only a few centimeters. After realising what he had done he stormed out of the house, leaving his youngest brother to comfort his mother (and earn some points in his favour).
After that his mother sent him to a place called Jail School for his last few years in school, attempting to scare Takeshi into becoming a prim and proper Oomari again. They organised for him to live by himself in a small apartment without any contact with the family during his school years, so that he had to support himself financially. However when they went to check up on him a year later, instead of being scared back into rich-kid-ness, Takeshi had already flourished and joined his delinquent fellows.
